Frequently Asked Questions — ORIGINS RAID
1) What is ORIGINS RAID?
ORIGINS RAID+ is a multi-stage journey for teams looking for real adventure: routes, navigation, small challenges and team life. It is a return to the origins of the first African adventures, when the important thing was not to compete, but to find your way and reach the destination. It is not just about driving: it is about living an expedition with guidance, coordination and support from the organisation.
2) Is it a race or a competition?
No. ORIGINS RAID does not work like a race. What matters here is completing the itinerary, enjoying the route and doing it wisely, with safety, camaraderie and respect for the environment coming first.
3) When is the next edition?
Edition 1: October 31 to November 7, 2026
4) How do I book my place? Are places limited?
Yes. In this edition, ORIGINS RAID+ is limited to 25 cars and 10 motorcycles. This is no coincidence: we want to preserve the spirit of real expeditions, avoiding overcrowding and protecting what matters most in the raid — the connection between participants. We want this to feel like one big family, not an event full of strangers.
Your place is confirmed when:
· you complete the registration form, and
· you make the initial payment of €750.
5) How much does it cost to take part?
The price is usually divided into two parts:
Fee per team of 2 people + 1 car: €2,350
Fee per motorcycle team of 1 person + 1 motorcycle: €1,195 / sharing a room with another person
Fee per team of 3 people + 1 car: €3,325
6) What is included in the registration fee?
Depending on the exact format of the edition, ORIGINS RAID includes:
· stage accommodation (hotels / riads / fully equipped desert tent with shower and bathroom, depending on the programme and the booked accommodation)
· half-board (breakfasts and dinners, according to the schedule)
· roadbook / travel dossier and information material
· navigation tracks (compatible with GPS and mobile app)
· medical travel assistance insurance
· organisation team during the event
· stickers and small gifts
Not included :)
· fuel, lunches, personal expenses, breakdowns if any, fines if any, and accommodation extras.
7) Where does it start and where does it finish?
Departure: Algeciras, October 31, 2026
Official end of the event: November 8, Almería
The return date can be changed, but it must be communicated to the organisation.
8) Solidarity action?
Yes, ORIGINS RAID includes a solidarity action.
Each team must bring approximately 30 kg of useful material (for example: notebooks, pencils, clothes, toys), which will be delivered at designated points along the route. A joint action is being prepared, and you will be informed soon.
9) What type of vehicles can take part?
Vehicles are accepted [types: passenger cars / 4x2 / 4x4 / classic vehicles and motorcycles…] as long as they are 20 years old or more, meaning vehicles registered no later than 2006.
10) What do I need to bring and prepare in the car?
To avoid problems on the route, there is a recommended minimum mandatory setup:
· lower engine protection (sump guard)
· spare wheel
· basic recovery equipment: tow strap, shovel and anti-stuck device (sand ladders or similar)
· fire extinguisher and first-aid kit
· prior mechanical check-up
Recommended extras (depending on terrain and stages):
· a little more ground clearance
· compressor / puncture repair kit
· extra lighting, as there will be night sections
10b) What do I need to bring and prepare on the motorcycle?
To avoid problems on the route, there is a recommended minimum mandatory setup:
· lower engine protection (sump guard)
· approved helmet, turtle-style back protection, gloves and enduro boots
· 1.5L camelback backpack
· basic recovery equipment: tow strap
· prior mechanical check-up
Recommended extras (depending on terrain and stages):
· new mixed tyres 50 off / 50 - 70 off / 30
· tyre repair levers
· extra lighting, as there will be night sections
11) What documentation do I need (people and vehicle)?
· valid document (passport) with at least 3 months’ validity
· vehicle registration document and technical data sheet
· valid insurance (and Green Card)
· owner’s authorisation if the car is not in the driver’s name; we have template documentation available to help you with the process
12) What is the navigation like? Do I need GPS?
Navigation material is provided. Returning to the origins, we will have some stages without GPS, using a roadbook in pure Dakar style.
· roadbook / stage dossier
· tracks (GPX / KML) for GPS or mobile
Practical recommendation:
· mobile phone with mount + charger
· track app — we will send you a PDF with several tested suggestions
· and optionally a physical map as plan B
13) How do I find out about notices and changes during the raid?
The organisation provides official channels (usually WhatsApp) for:
· daily information through briefing
· operational notices
· stage updates and support
14) What extra costs should I take into account?
In addition to the registration fee, keep in mind:
· fuel: calculate around 2,300 km across Morocco
· meals not included: we recommend bringing a picnic for lunchtime
· extras (€15 tolls / unforeseen expenses)
15) Cancellations, changes and conditions
· The initial payment of €750 is managed according to the published policy
· Changes of team / name / vehicle
